LONDON—22 August 2024—Ukrainian Action, a UK charity and US nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the survival and recovery of Ukraine, donated its 300th vehicle to the country, which was delivered in its 59th humanitarian-aid convoy.
“We are proud to have donated and delivered over 300 vehicles to Ukraine, but how we deliver vehicles is more important than how many,’ said Jeffrey Hartman, Ukrainian Action co-founder and CEO. “We are proud of our ability to collaborate effectively and analyze local needs in order to deliver vehicles and supplies to the most critical areas, this is our main priority. Long after Ukraine’s victory, we only hope to remember that we did our best and worked hard.”
UA’s 59th convoy comprised six vehicles: an ambulance, a large van with cherry picker, an SUV, two pickup trucks and a van, which will be used to support emergency workers with medical evacuations and the allocation of humanitarian aid in eastern and southern regions of the country that have been damaged by Russian attacks.
The van was delivered to Ukraine by UA under Transport for London’s scheme to send non-ULEZ complaint vehicles to Ukraine. The vehicle was driven 1,567 miles from London all the way to Kyiv by Jack Lopresti, former Member of Parliament in the UK for Filton and Bradley Stoke since the 2010 general election. Lopresti was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party in February 2023. “It was a pleasure and honour to drive this ULEZ vehicle to Ukraine with Ukrainian Action,” Jack remarked, “I am seriously impressed with the efficient organisation and logistics by the UA team.”
UA’s convoys depart from London to Ukraine on average every two weeks for the past 29 months since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022. UA’s 60th convoy will deliver 5 more vehicles at the end of this month.
Ukrainian Action operates transparently to ensure donors and volunteers feel connected to the endeavor. Many donors also volunteer to drive vehicles in UA’s humanitarian aid convoys from London. Supporters may follow convoy shipments and progress through the organization’s Instagram account.
